Continuous Traceability Across the Solar Manufacturing Line

Scanflow’s vision-driven traceability operates across multiple high-risk, high-value stages of solar module manufacturing. Instead of relying on a single checkpoint, it enables continuous visibility across key assembly and inspection points where accuracy, evidence, and process control are essential.

Applied Across EL, Pre-Lamination, and Beyond

Scanflow can be deployed at Electroluminescence (EL) inspection, pre-lamination, and other critical assembly stages where visual access and traceability play a central role in maintaining production integrity.

EL Inspection Stage

EL Inspection Stage
  • Capture EL images along with inspection outcomes
  • Link defect status and pass/fail results to module or batch IDs
  • Maintain verifiable inspection records tied to production data

Pre-Lamination Stage (High-Risk Window)

  • Real-time capture of internal barcodes, labels, and cell identifiers
  • Reliable vision decoding in glare and low-contrast conditions
  • Automatic linkage to line, shift, operator, and batch metadata

Real-Time Cell Counting and Cell Condition Validation

During module preparation, cell-level deviations directly impact yield and downstream quality. Scanflow enables real-time verification at these stages to detect issues before irreversible assembly.

Cell Counting During Module Preparation

EL Inspection Stage
  • Automated visual counting during stringing and layup
  • Validation against BOM and production recipes
  • Instant alerts for missing, extra, or misaligned cells

Damaged Cell Detection and Validation

  • Visual identification of cracked, chipped, or damaged cells
  • Evidence-backed confirmation before lamination
  • Prevents defective modules from progressing downstream

Frequently Asked Questions

Solar DCR

What is the purpose of the DCR (Domestic Content Requirement) policy for solar PV in India?

The DCR policy ensures that solar modules and cells used in government-linked projects are genuinely manufactured within India. It promotes local manufacturing, supports industry growth, and improves production traceability at every stage of the supply chain.

How is DCR compliance verified for solar modules and cells?

DCR compliance is verified through the DCR Verification Portal operated by the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE). Manufacturers must register their facilities and upload production data. Only modules that are verifiable on this portal are accepted under key MNRE schemes.

When did the DCR verification requirement become mandatory?

Manufacturers were required to start submitting past production data from January 1, 2024. From December 1, 2024, solar modules that could not be verified on the DCR portal were no longer accepted under major MNRE programmes such as CPSU Scheme Phase-II, PM Surya Ghar, and PM KUSUM.

What problem does Scanflow solve for Solar DCR compliance?

Scanflow eliminates manual, error-prone traceability by capturing tamper-evident visual and data proof at every critical stage of the solar panel lifecycle. It ensures verifiable domestic manufacturing evidence required under MNRE and DCR mandates.

How is Scanflow different from MES or ERP systems?

MES and ERP systems store production data but do not reliably capture physical proof. Scanflow acts as the evidence and verification layer, visually validating labels, IDs, and process stages and linking them to existing MES or DCR systems.

Does Scanflow replace AOI, EL, or PL inspection systems?

No. Scanflow complements AOI, EL, and PL systems by providing traceability, identity verification, and audit-ready evidence, not electrical or defect analysis.

Where in the manufacturing process does Scanflow deliver the highest ROI?

The pre-lamination stage delivers the highest ROI and risk mitigation. This is the only window where internal labels are visible, and Scanflow ensures these identifiers are captured before they become permanently inaccessible.

Can Scanflow operate in low-connectivity or restricted network environments?

Yes. Scanflow is built on an offline-first, edge-based architecture. Data is securely captured and synced later, making it suitable for restricted factory zones, warehouses, and EPC sites.

What kind of companies benefit most from Scanflow?

  • Solar cell and module manufacturers under DCR mandates
  • EPC companies handling MNRE-linked projects
  • Operators managing large, distributed solar assets
  • Organizations preparing for future recycling and ESG compliance

What types of identifiers can Scanflow capture?

Scanflow captures:

  • Barcodes, QR codes, and printed serial numbers
  • Batch IDs, pallet IDs, and module identifiers
  • OCR-based labels, invoices, and logistics documents

All captures are time-stamped, geo-tagged, and operator-linked.
